Dedicated to the memory of Gary Parfitt

This site is a tribute to Gary Parfitt. He is much loved and will always be remembered.

Gary joined the Co-op from school at the age of 16 and had been working in our marketing team for 35 years. He was a genuinely nice guy, laid back and always happy and joking. A true gentleman who was always pleased to help people out and was a font of knowledge for all things Co-op and of course all things print.

Gary was a massive Manchester City fan and a great singer, well known for his rendition of Angels at team karaoke nights!

He was a true bedrock of the team and we know a lot of people across the business and our partners, suppliers and agencies will miss him.

We can’t imagine life without his warmth, kindness and banter

He leaves behind his wife Joanne and twin sons Joe and Lewis

Rest well, Gary.

Thoughts

Just heard about Gary. Genuinely nice lad a true gentle giant. Had many a good night out with Gary in Abbey Hey back in the 80s. Rest easy big fellow.

I’ve only just heard the terribly sad news of Gary passing away. Sending my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Sadly due to work and having to move away, the last time I saw Gary was on his wedding day. He looked over the moon and from the love and affection for him that is clear from this tribute page he had a very happy family life. Gary (Parf) was a great mate during high school and into our late teens, he was part of our group of friends who would meet every weekend for a few/ lots of beers in the Prince of Wales or head into town to one of the clubs. On Saturday afternoons we would stand on the Kippax cheering on the blues and ventured to Ibiza, Italy and Blackpool on holidays in the 80s. When I think back on some of my favourite memories of that time, Parf was in them with his great sense of humour. He would often wander straight through the middle of a packed dance floor doing his famous Madness walk. So sad to hear he is no longer with us but rest assured Parf, even after 30 years of not seeing you, I’ve never forgot what a great mate you were and will always remember our friendship and the many laughs we had. RIP my old pal from Gorton. Steve
